The AICTE, part of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India issued the Notification to all the Universities as well as Autonomous Management Institutes for regularizing all
the management courses in India in 2007. For uniformity, PGDM nomenclature was decided by AICTE for all autonomous Two Years Full time Post Graduate courses.
As per the guidelines of the AICTE, the Two Years Full time Courses at IIBR are named as PGDM courses which are recognized by the AICTE and Ministry of HRD,
Government of India. Hence, there is no need of any affiliation of these courses to any University.
The PGDM courses at IIBR are a good blend of theoretical and practical
knowledge. Each subject is introduced with theoretical inputs to make the students conceptually strong and then it is developed further by incorporating case studies
and discussions about the current business affairs so that the students relate conceptual knowledge to the practical events.
The other important feature of these
PGDM courses is that the students are exposed to their specialization field from the start of the second semester. This helps students to perform effectively in their first
interaction with the Industry during the Summer project. Not just that, the PGDM course is a good step for both, students who want to move into a successful career
as well as those who would like to go in for higher studies. The alumni of IIBR have been well received by the Corporate world not only in India but internationally also.
In a nutshell, the PGDM course at IIBR is an exhaustive & well structured course that enables students to strike a balance between theoretical & practical knowledge.
Teaching Methodology
By way of a Four Semester system with the Summer Project of Two months ( 50 working days ) after second semester, the expert core faculties give classroom teaching
through teaching material, classroom lectures, group discussions, case study development and presentations by the students. This knowledge input is supplemented
by guest lectures from the experts in the industry and also visiting faculties from India and abroad.
IIBR follows a unique teaching methodology wherein mainstream
teaching is supplemented with short-term teaching through seminars, case studies, intensive workshops, interactive business games, overseas tours as well as
industrial & port visits. Our demanding and dynamic curriculum has a global perspective and has been specially designed with academic support from various top
notch industrialists and academicians to blend with classroom activities that encourage student participation. IIBR programs are designed to ensure that students are
exposed to high quality and industry-relevant knowledge to make them global professionals.
Internship
An internship gives students a taste of the realities of the corporate world and helps them learn beyond the four walls of their classroom. It is a time when students can
truly apply their learning to get hands on experience in a field of management that they choose. Hence, it is mandatory for students pursuing a PGDM course at IIBR
to undergo two months of industrial training at the end of their Semester II. This training is guided by internal faculty and corporate representatives and helps students
prepare for final placements.
Specialisation
The Institute offers PGDM Business Management and PGDM Administration courses offering 16 specializations in all. A student can define his career goals based in his or her core interest for any 2 specializations from this list. The unit teaching process permits the student to pursue 2 specializations simultaneously, with 11 examinations for each specialization spread out from the first to fourth semesters.
The IIBR course is designed so that the knowledge sharing for this specialization commences from 1st semester itself, thereby making the student knowledgeable enough to handle 2 months of industrial projects at the end of 2nd semester.
Eligibility
Any Graduate from a statutory university may apply for admissions to the PGDM course; students appearing for their final year exam may also apply for provisional admissions, subject to clearing all the requirements stated by the respective government authorities.
